A Tribute to a Dedicated Defender's Legacy.

Another Gem Lost, We Are Losing Treasure.

  • ZAMAN NOOR / GLOBAL KASHMIR / 6-12-2023

In the quiet corners of Eidgah, the echoes of sacrifice & bravery resonate marking the departure of a true hero, J&K Police Officer Inspector Masroor Ahmed, On 28 October 2023 Eidgah Srinagar bore witness to a barbaric attack on a cop when he was playing cricket with few boys that shook the foundations of courage, leaving behind a wounded warrior who fought valiantly until his last breath.

Shaheed Masroor Ahmed, A devoted police officer embodied the spirit of service & sacrifice. His commitment to maintaining peace & order in the region was unwavering, earning him the respect and admiration of those he served. However, fate had a different plan for this courageous son of the soil.

After the attack, Masroor Ahmed battled with unyielding determination, displaying the same grit that defined his career in law enforcement. Despite the odds stacked against him, he was a beacon of hope for his family, friends & colleagues. The hospital became a battleground where doctors and medical staff fought alongside him, recognizing the importance of saving this Gem in the nation's crown and the necklace of a newlyborn daughter.

When a team of doctors referred him to AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) brought a glimmer of hope to the public. The nation collectively held its breath, praying for the recovery of a Son, a husband, a father and a cop who had given so much to protect and serve. However, despite the relentless efforts of the medical team, the brave officer succumbed to his injuries, leaving a void that resonates deeply within the hearts of those who knew him.

The loss of Masroor Ahmed is not just a blow to his immediate circle but reverberates across the entire community. It is a stark reminder of the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers who selflessly dedicate their lives to ensuring the safety & well-being of the general public.

Amid grief, it's crucial to remember Shaheed Masroor Ahmed not just for the circumstances surrounding his departure but for the legacy he leaves behind. He was more than a police officer; he was a symbol of resilience, bravery, & the unwavering spirit that defines the true essence of a hero.

As we bid tributes to this gallant soul, let us honour Masroor Ahmed's memory by cherishing the values he stood for the values of duty, honour & sacrifice. In our collective sorrow, we find strength in discussing the life of a man who even in his final moments exemplified the true essence of a guardian and protector.

The gem we lost may no longer shine physically among us, but the brilliance of Masroor Ahmed's legacy will forever illuminate the path for those who continue the noble journey of safeguarding our communities. In the vault of our collective memory, his name shall remain etched as a treasured testament to the indomitable spirit of our nation's brave defenders.

The Role and Responsibilities of Students in Institution Building

Respected Chairperson, Representatives Of SACPPE, Esteemed Faculty Members, and My Dear Fellow Students,

I am a student, A news analyst, An entrepreneur and a grassroot social activist. Today, we have gathered here for an important event organized by the South Asia Center for Peace and Peoples Empowerment (SACPPE) in collaboration with Government Degree College (GDC) Shopian. The topic of our debate is "The Role and Responsibilities of Students in Institution Building," and it holds great significance in shaping the future of our educational institutions.

Institutions are not merely brick and mortar structures; they are the breeding grounds of knowledge, innovation, and character-building. As students, we are not just beneficiaries of education; we are stakeholders and torchbearers responsible for nurturing the institution we belong to. Our role in institution building is not confined to attending classes and taking exams. We have a much larger responsibility in creating an environment that fosters growth, inclusivity, and excellence.

Firstly, as students, we must understand that our active participation and engagement are vital for the overall development of our institution. Our enthusiasm for learning, involvement in extracurricular activities, and respect for our teachers and peers create a positive and conducive atmosphere within the campus.

Secondly, we have the power to contribute to the academic and co-curricular programs of the institution. We should take initiatives to form clubs, societies, and forums that cater to diverse interests and address pertinent social issues. By organizing workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns, we can not only enhance our knowledge but also contribute to the intellectual growth of the entire student community.

Thirdly, responsible use of resources is crucial for institution building. As students, we should strive to conserve energy, maintain cleanliness, and be mindful of the infrastructure. By being environmentally conscious, we can set an example for others and promote sustainable practices within our institution.

Moreover, our participation in decision-making processes is essential. We should proactively engage with the authorities, expressing our ideas, concerns, and suggestions to foster a culture of transparency and accountability. Our opinions matter, and by voicing them constructively, we can influence the policies that shape the institution's future.

In conclusion, the responsibility of students in institution building is not to be underestimated. Our collective efforts and enthusiasm can transform our educational institutions into vibrant centers of learning and character development. Let us take pride in our roles as proactive stakeholders and contribute wholeheartedly to the growth and betterment of SACPPE, GDC Shopian, and any other institution we are a part of. Thank you

Sufism in Valley of Serenity: A Poetic Journey into Kashmiri Mysticism

  • ZAMAN NOOR / Sufism_the way to peace

In the enchanting valleys of Kashmir, where the air is filled with the fragrance of saffron & the melodies of pristine rivers, there exists a spiritual tapestry woven with the threads of Sufism. Amidst the breathtaking landscapes, Sufism flourishes as a timeless expression of devotion, transcending the boundaries of conventional understanding.

A young sufi poet Zaman Noor eloquently captures the essence of Kashmiri mysticism in verses that resonate with the soul:

صمت بھرے چیناروں کی آگوش میں

کتنے ملنگوں کا پراسرار سایہ ہیں

شہر کی سڑکوں پہ بےشتر اکثر

یہ شجر ہم.کلام ہوتے ہیں

روحانی چبھن دے کے خیالات کو

ایک سادہ زمان کو نور بنا دیتے ہیں

In the embrace of silent Chinars,

The mysterious shelter of countless Malangs.

Mostly on the city's roadsides,

These trees become our companions & speak to us

Elevating the spiritual hum of thoughts,

Turns a common Boy Zaman into (Noor) a sufi poet or writer.

وادي میں ہے چاندنی راتوں کا جادو،

سلسلہ قلبوں کا ہے سفر ہر چاندنی میں۔

Translation:

In the valley, the magic of moonlit nights,

A journey of hearts in every gleaming moon.

Kashmir, often referred to as "Paradise on Earth," becomes a sanctuary for those seeking spiritual solace. Sufism in this region transcends religious boundaries, intertwining with the rich cultural fabric & reflecting the syncretic ethos of Kashmiri society.

Noor's verses echo through the air, resonating in the hearts of those who have delved into the mystic realms of Sufi philosophy. His words become a guide, leading seekers to the dargahs (Sufi shrines) nestled in the serene landscapes, where the air is permeated with the fragrance of incense & the echoes of devotional music.

روشنی کے راستوں پر چل کر،

خدا سے ملاقات ہے ہر قدم میں۔

Translation:

"Walking on the paths of light,

A meeting with the divine at every step."

Sufism in Kashmir is not merely a set of rituals; it's a spiritual odyssey, a journey to attain closeness to the Divine. The Sufi saints who once roamed these valleys left behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unity, transcending the divisive forces that may seek to disturb the harmony of the region.

محبت میں ہی رب کا وجود ہے،

یہی سیاہی لفظوں کے خیالات میں۔

Translation:

"In love lies the existence of the Divine,

This ink in the thoughts of words."

As we navigate the alleys of Srinagar or gaze upon the snow-capped peaks, the teachings of Sufism offer a profound understanding of the interconnectedness of all beings. Noor's poetry becomes a spiritual compass, guiding us through the labyrinth of existence, urging us to embrace love, tolerance & unity.

صوفیوں کی زمین سے ہے رشتہ میرا

ہر زخم کو بھرتا ہے صوفیانہ سیرا

Translation:

"I have a connection with the land of Sufi's,

Spiritual Circulation heal every wound"

In the verses of Zaman Noor, Sufism in Kashmir finds a voice that resonates beyond borders, inviting all to partake in the journey of the soul. The mysticism of this valley continues to unfold, revealing the timeless wisdom encapsulated in the poetry of a Sufi sage.

Ganderbal/November 26: In a significant initiative against global terrorism, the South Asia Centre for Peace & Peoples .

Empowerment (SACPPE) organized a day-long event at the Sadat Valley Educational Institute in Wakoora in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Tackling the Growing Drug Menace in Kashmir: A Call to Action.

By Zaman Noor

In recent years, the picturesque vialleys of Kashmir have been grappling with an alarming rise in the drug menace, posing a significant threat to the well-being & future of the region's youth. As the issue becomes more pressing, it is crucial to address the root causes & implement effective strategies to curb the proliferation of drugs. This article explores the growing drug crisis in Kashmir & proposes actionable measures to combat this pervasive issue.

  • The surge in drug abuse in Kashmir is not just a statistical concern but a socio-economic & public health crisis. Factors such as the lure of quick money through drug trade.  conflict-related stress & limited recreational opportunities have contributed to the vulnerability of the youth, making them susceptible to substance abuse. From heroin to prescription drugs, the spectrum of substances afflicting the region is broad & deeply concerning.
The enduring conflict in the region has taken a toll on the mental well-being of its inhabitants, prompting some to resort to substances as a means of coping. However, the current Government has demonstrated determined efforts to combat terrorism and narco-terrorism comprehensively. Since the historic decision to abrogate Article 370 and subsequent pivotal rulings by the Honorable Supreme Court, the scenario has undergone a transformative shift towards peace. The populace now experiences a serene and tranquil atmosphere, notably decreasing the vulnerability of the younger generation to drug entanglement arising from the prior conflict.
Insufficient awareness about the dangers of drug abuse contributes to the lack of preventive measures and rehabilitation efforts. The scarcity of rehabilitation centers and counseling services further exacerbates the challenge, leaving individuals struggling with addiction without proper support.
Launch comprehensive awareness campaigns in schools, colleges & communities to educate the youth about the dangers of drug abuse. Engaging influencers, community leaders & local celebrities, Social media influencers & Masjid / Mohalla Committees can amplify the impact of these campaigns.
Invest in & expand rehabilitation facilities with a focus on providing psychological counseling, vocational training, and support for reintegration into society. Collaboration with NGOs and mental health professionals can enhance these efforts.
Encourage community involvement in identifying & reporting drug-related activities. Establish community watch programs where we can involve local leaders to foster a sense of responsibility in addressing the issue collectively.
Implement initiatives to address unemployment by promoting skill development programs and job creation. Empowering the youth with viable alternatives can significantly reduce the appeal of drug trafficking and abuse.
The growing drug menace in Kashmir demands urgent & concerted efforts from all stakeholders. By addressing the root causes & implementing a multifaceted approach involving awareness, rehabilitation, community engagement, law enforcement, it is possible to reverse the trend & secure a healthier & more prosperous future for the region. It is important & only remedy for government bodies, community leaders, & citizens to get unite in the War/ fight against drug abuse to eliminate the cancer from society.

Republic Day celebrations Resonate across valley with full fervor.

Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the picturesque landscapes of Kashmir, transcending boundaries & reaching every corner of the valley. The main & grand event took place at Bakhshi Stadium, where Advisor to Honorable Lieutenant Governor, Sh. Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar ji, unfurled the National Flag to mark the 75th Republic Day Celebration.

The patriotic fervor extended beyond the stadium, reaching every district across the valley. Government offices, political headquarters, NGOs, civil societies & military & para-military campuses joined hands to commemorate this significant day.

Flag hoisting ceremonies were conducted with pride in every district, symbolising the shared commitment to the principles of the Constitution. Political leaders and administrators addressed gatherings, emphasizing the importance of unity, diversity & collective responsibility in building a stronger nation.

Republic Day celebrations were not confined to official establishments alone. Even in the remotest corners of the valley, civilians participated by hosting the national flag at their homes, creating a vibrant tapestry of patriotism.

The Indian Army, military & paramilitary campuses actively participated in Republic Day celebrations, emphasizing their essential role in upholding the nation's sovereignty. A notable event was organized by the Indian Army, Chinar Corps 31 Sub Area at Chattabal, in collaboration with various NGOs, civil societies, sports clubs & the intellectual fraternity. The celebration went beyond the traditional flag-hoisting ceremony, featuring cultural performances & insightful sermons on the peace process & nation-building.

This collaborative effort aims to nurture a tranquil environment in the valley, fostering trust and friendship between the Army & the public, contributing to lasting peace & camaraderie.

Republic Day in Kashmir was not just a routine commemoration, it emerged as a celebration of shared values & aspirations. The events showcased a collective commitment to building a prosperous and harmonious future, reflecting the resilience of a nation that cherishes its democratic ethos. The celebrations stood as a testament to the enduring spirit of unity that binds Chinar Corps & the Kashmir Valley.

As the tricolor fluttered in the crisp Kashmiri breeze, it carried with it the hopes and dreams of a resilient people who, despite challenges, remain steadfast in their allegiance to the ideals of justice, liberty, equality & fraternity. Republic Day in Kashmir was a testament to the indomitable spirit that binds the nation together, transcending differences and embracing the rich tapestry of cultures that make India truly unique.

As i tried to craft a reflection in my previous article touching the experienced past and now witnessing the present fervor, Kashmir is now celebrating these events with the same enthusiasm as the rest of the country.

'Naya Kashmir' - The Kashmir of New Hope and Progress

Kashmir, the crown jewel of India, is transforming into 'Naya Kashmir' - a Kashmir renewed with fresh optimism, booming development and young leadership steering it to a bright future.

For decades, Kashmir grappled with conflict, terrorism and separatism that inflicted immense suffering and stagnated growth. However, in the last few years, the repeal of Article 370, neutralization of terrorists, and restoration of peace have paved the way for Kashmiris to shape their own 'Naya Kashmir.' Today, Kashmir stands tall - as a region brimming with hope and marching on the path of inclusive development.

Burgeoning Industries Powering Economic Growth, At the heart of Kashmir's renewal is its fast-growing economy. With militancy subsiding, industries are thriving again and fueling job creation as well as prosperity.

Tourism is regaining its glory of the 1980s when two million tourists would flock every year to Kashmir's enchanting valleys, lakes, hills and landmarks. After dipping to a few thousands at the peak of unrest, tourist inflow is touching record six lakh visitors now annually and swelling further. Lavish houseboats on Dal Lake and vibrant Tulip Garden nestled below snow-capped Pir Panjal mountains, prove why Kashmir is paradise regained for travelers from across India and overseas.

Apple farming - the mainstay of Kashmir's economy - has also revived from violent disruptions of the past. With high density plantations, advanced storage infrastructure and farmers adopting progressive techniques, Kashmir's apple industry has bounced back to produce 23 lakh metric tonnes in recent record harvests. Agricultural exports crossing 700 crore rupees exemplify the bountiful dividends reaped by Kashmiri apple growers today.

Similarly, saffron production has surged by 33 percent in Kashmir after central schemes nurtured skilled local cultivators. With growing global demand for the world's costliest spice derived from purple saffron crocus flowers, Kashmir exported 15.40 metric tonnes of high quality saffron last year to lift farmer incomes.

Industry leaders see immense potential in great Kashmiri exports like apples and saffron through value addition. Food processing plants for fruit products like jams, juices and dried apples can make Kashmir Asia’s leading processed fruit exporter. Saffron too when further refined into premium varieties, extracts or supplements can realize much greater profits.

Such agro-industries forged with private investments and public incentives can generate large-scale manufacturing jobs, raising incomes and living standards across Kashmir. They can truly make Kashmir's farming bounty the bedrock of a strong economy.

Handicrafts production is similarly getting revived with contemporary designs, e-commerce adoption by artisans and renewed official patronage; to preserve Kashmir's cultural heritage while benefiting lakhs of local craftsmen. The Kashmir Pashmina shawl for instance, is seeing record turnover lately after innovations like machine-woven pashminas lowered costs and brought unique Kashmiri handicrafts within reach of wider customer segments.

Modernizing agriculture, growing horticulture exports and supporting artisans by integrating latest technology and business trends with Kashmir's traditional economic strengths is proving a successful formula for employment generation even beyond agriculture. With such comprehensive expansion across grassroot sectors, Kashmir is scripting a powerful economic turnaround story.

Progressive Industrial Policy and Infra Building Investment Catalyzing Growth, Much of this economic resurgence has been catalyzed by Jammu and Kashmir government's new Industrial Policy 2021-30 aimed at substantive private participation. With investor-friendly provisions like capital and interest subsidies, lease-free factory sites and ready land banks, it has already mobilized Rs 28,400 crore investment proposals to build a robust manufacturing ecosystem.

When mega projects like the ambitious 6,000 crore Rupee Raigarh-Pahalgam railway line materialize through this policy, it will expand Kashmir's industry and tourism horizons multi-fold.

Similar infrastructure expansion is visible in 15,000 crore national highway projects underway in J&K currently, including linker roads facilitating access to remote areas. Kashmir will also join India's railway network by 2022, cutting travel time across India-Pakistan border at Baramulla.

Power infrastructure has already been hugely augmented through dedicated schemes like 'Power to All'. In just three years, Kashmir achieved 100 percent household electrification up from just 56 percent in 2018 - testament to the rapid pace J&K is charging towards energy security.

Health and education infrastructure from AIIMS, IIMC campuses to 7 new medical colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Eklavya Model schools has likewise expanded vastly lately - reflecting substantial investment by the Centre into building Kashmir’s social capital.

Through such efforts J&K is clocking 9.4 percent GDP growth over the past two years - its highest in decades. With spurt in job-creating manufacturing, renewed tourism, farmers earning record incomes and rising per capita incomes at 16 percent above national average; Kashmir's economy is booming today more than ever before.

When private investment follows through on the production-linked incentives declared, rapid industrialization, trade and commerce will reshape Kashmir's economic landscape just as India witnesses massive FDI inflows in the post-COVID era. This augurs well for long-term, sustainable and inclusive growth in Naya Kashmir.

Grassroot Democracy Empowering People and Revitalizing Governance, As Kashmir charts impressive economic indicators, it is the grassroot participative democracy taking deeper roots which underscores the wider social transformation.

There was no elected government with assembly dissolved in 2018, To touch grassroot democracy elections for Block Development Councils at local level held in 2018 with over 98 percent of seats witnessing enthusiastic participation.

Panchayat elections / local election or Muncipal elections were last held in the erstwhile State of J&K in late 2018. A total of 27,281 panches (panchayat members) and sarpanches (village headmen) were elected, and took oath on January 10, 2019.

This strong voter momentum continued in DDC elections in 2020 which established District Development Councils as Kashmir's third tier of decentralized governance. The conduct of fair and violence-free elections in which new youth leaders and women gained representation, displays the success of grassroot democracy in J&K.

Through these new platforms, budget utilization, implementation efficiency and last mile delivery of welfare schemes is improving markedly even as locals have greater say now in policy decisions impacting their community.

Be it achievements under Back to Village programme bringing governance to people's doorstep through gazetted officers’ visits or online portals enabling real time public grievance redressal; J&K government’s functioning is becoming more responsive and people-centric. Schemes like TEJASWIN are educating college going youth in good governance practices so they can contribute meaningfully to policy-making later.

From 150 km per day road construction speed to projects completed under Capex budget rising 5 times over two years, execution efficiency has also risen remarkably. Corruption falling, bottlenecks easing, public trust growing - these positive outcomes exhibit participative grassroot governance model’s merits.

Through local body empowerment combined with digital transparency measures and decentralized planning, Kashmir is nurturing a governance ecosystem that is gaining vibrancy from people’s inputs while being agile, efficient and accountable in implementation.

When common Kashmiris recognize their developmental aspirations find reflection in policy because their locally elected representatives craft it, the feeling of resentment stemming from being left out of decisions impacting them gets replaced by one of collective responsibility over their region’s progress.

This shift towards bottom-up and inclusive state administrative mechanisms rather than remote disconnected bureaucracy is creating substantive and lasting change. It has revived people's faith in grassroot electoral democracy - evident in Kashmir recording nearly 52 percent turnout panchayat elections despite militancy threats, highest in last three decades.

Truly now, power is with people in Kashmir as their chosen leaders decide policy priorities based on ground realities. Through this participative governance model being instituted from village to district levels, Naya Kashmir taking shape fulfills Mahatma Gandhi’s vision for India’s future - as a nation built from empowered ground-level communities through grassroot democracy.

Young and Capable Leadership Emerging from Within Kashmir, While strong new structures enable Kashmir's renewal, equally remarkable is the fresh crop of promising local leaders and achievers rising from here. They reinforce through personal accomplishments that the youthful generations of Kashmiris today wish to deliver peace and prosperity - not unrest - to their region.

Sports icons like eight time kickboxing world champion Tajammul Shah or British Olympic Gold Medalist boxer Zareen Nikhat signal the boundless grit and talent brewing in Kashmiri youth. 12 year old Fatima Nabi became the youngest novelist from Kashmir wielding her pen to secure prizes, fame and vow to uplift women.

Besides the inspiration stars like Dr. Shah Faisal and Dr. Sehrish Asgar, There are more feathers added in the crown of in 2023, Waseem Ahmad Bhat from Dooru in Anantnag (7th rank), Naved Ashan Bhat from Sopore (84th), Manan Bhat of Soura in Srinagar (231st ).

Such exemplary achievers showcase all that Kashmiri youth are capable of when exposed to right opportunities. They sock from within Kashmiri community that youngsters here can reach pinnacles of success - whether in civil services, literature or sports.

Progressive local political leadership too is rising within grass.

PM Modi Spearheads J&K's New Vikaas Yatra — Unveils Projects Worth ₹32,000 Cr Across Connectivity, Energy & Healthcare

Scripting history during his high-powered Jammu visit today, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi led the Bhoomi Poojan ceremony and inaugurated development projects cumulatively worth over ₹32,000 crores. He translated his unwavering commitment for fast-tracking J&K's growth trajectory into action - resonating strongly with the aspirations of Kashmiri and Jammu youth.

The PM unveiled an economic roadmap for J&K focused on strategic connectivity corridors, energy security as well as grassroot healthcare access reflecting his modern, futuristic vision balancing growth across all sections of the society.

J&K Connectivity Ambition - Delhi Kashmir Expressway

The ambitious Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway project, construction of which started today is the Prime Minister's dream project mirrored to bridge distances between Kashmir and rest of the country. Built by NHAI at an unprecedented cost of ₹7500 crores over three years, the 672 km long expressway network will reduce the travel time between Katra and Amritsar by half while providing seamless connectivity with the national capital through North India's first 6-lane expressway integrating Kashmir by road.

According to officials, the state-of-art, access-controlled expressway will have a designated green belt of 8 km long with wayside amenities at intervals of 30-50 km in addition to multiple intersections, bridges, flyovers and elevated corridors. It will pass through the culturally significant cities of Jalandhar in Punjab and Himachal's Kangra connecting the three Shakti Peethas of Vaishno Devi, Chintpurni Devi and Jawalamukhi temple.

Equipped with advanced traffic management systems, dedicated corridors for movement of Indian Army vehicles, road side call boxes and CCTV cameras, the strategic expressway will not only bolster tourism activity benefitting Jammu's economy but also strengthen national security through rapid mobilisation of defence forces and equipment closer to the western border.

Energy Security Roadmap for Electricity Sufficiency

The PM initiated the ground-breaking ceremony for the 850 MW Ratle Hydroelectric project and 540 MW Kwar Hydroelectric project coming up on the Chenab river in district Kishtwar jointly at a staggering cost of ₹5300 crores. For the first time in J&K's history, two mega power units are being set up almost simultaneously by NHPC to harness the water resources for illumination in consonance with environment.

The Ratle Hydroelectric Plant shall have a vast quarter mile dam built with high strength concrete designed to withstand seismic forces along with an underground power station featuring four turbine generator units to supply much needed electricity. It shall draw-down flushing to maintain water quality for optimal fish migration. On the other hand, the Kwar plant shall be equipped with India's first hydraulic transfer capacity system allowing power unit flexibility to meet peak demands through water transfer between rivers Chenab & Marusudar.

According to NHPC CMD, nearly 8000 workers shall be employed at the two locations during the seven year construction period after which the units shall directly employ close to 1500 highly skilled engineers and technicians for operations. This is the first of many hydro projects in the pipeline totalling 10,000 MW capacity to make J&K independent in energy sector while creating over 1 lakh new jobs for youth, informed the Power Minister RK Singh. J&K currently relies majorly on National Grid for power needs.

Healthcare Access Expanded Through Medical Colleges

Five new Government Medical Colleges cumulatively worth ₹325 crores were also announced via foundation stone laying by PM Modi at Rajouri, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kathua and Doda. Equipped with 500 bed hospitals each, modern OTs and accommodation for faculty & staff, this fulfills the long-standing demand of decent tertiary healthcare access for remote border towns and far-flung villages reflecting the PM's unwavering sensitivity to J&K's needs.

The Medical Colleges approved in Phase-I of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme shall now increase MBBS seats in J&K by atleast 100 every year helping retain more doctors locally who often migrate outside for lack of PG courses. Notably, when PM Modi took charge in 2014, J&K had only four functional medical colleges which have now increased to 10 catering to healthcare needs of the entire newly carved out Union Territory.

SARAS AAJEEVIKA Mela Showcases Women entrepreneurs In keeping with his thrust towards women-led development, the PM visited the stalls put up by over 300 women entrepreneurs under the SARAS Aajeevika Mela promoting local crafts like zari, pattu, wood carving, carpets etc that boosts community involvement. Interacting with the women beneficiaries of various Jan Dhan & MUDRA schemes, he appreciated their determination in the face of adversity - unveiling his progressive vision of self reliant women playing pivotal role within grassroot economy.

PM Swings in Celebrations With Palli Panchayat

The Prime Minister was visibly moved interacting with Panchayat representatives and villagers of Palli Gram Panchayat in Samba sub division bordering Jammu where he began his public address by appreciating their dedicated efforts towards achieving 100% saturation across Ujjwala, Saubhagya and Ujala schemes - underlining their exemplary rapid development at grassroot level.

As locals sang Kashmiri traditional song 'Ae Lo Ghor Diye' highlighting the celebration of development, the PM swung along conveying his message of inclusive progress reaching even far flung rural hamlets. Palli Panchayat was recently declared India's first carbon neutral panchayat fully powered by solar energy, with tapped water connections in every household.

Modi Presents 5-Pronged Roadmap for J&K Growth

Through his entire Jammu visit today exemplified by theephyranthes ground breaking ceremonies, the Hon'ble Prime Minister presented a five pronged roadmap for J&K's rapid, inclusive development across dimensions of connectivity, energy security, healthcare access, community involvement and resilient infrastructure.

This balanced approach steers away from the previous lopsided models of governance focused solely on cities, added officials. By setting up institutions of excellence in every sector while enabling access to basic amenities even in remote areas, he laid out a model of holistic development at the grassroot level for the newly carved out UT.

Invoking Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee's vision of Insaniyat, Kashmiriyat, Jamhooriyat as driving principles of Naya J&K, PM Modi highlighted sustained efforts across last three years on restoring peace, protecting unique cultural identity and strengthening democracy post abrogation of regressive Article 370. "Delimitation exercise was conducted fairly to empower tribals and remote area populations through fair representation," he added.

The Prime Minister's Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas doctrine manifested itself clearly as he promised adequate opportunities for all sections ranging from youth, women, tribals to even Pahadi community who have suffered historic injustice signalling that a golden new era of vishwas coupled with suraksha has finally arrived for J&K residents.

Through his unwavering commitment by launching projects cumulatively worth over Rs 32,000 crores during the whirlwind visit, the PM made a compelling statement that J&K's growth trajectory shall now be unabated in the positive direction with the strength of 1.3 billion Indians lending full support. The Prime Minister stands as a pillar of hope for Kashmiris determined to transform the beautiful valley into paradise on earth once again - ushering an era of peace and everlasting development.
